The Prysmian Sky Project in Kirkkonumminvolves the construction of a 185\u2011metre\u2011high cable tower for Prysmian Group\u2019s submarine cable production facility, making it the tallest building in Finland. The Tower enables the installation of a new, state\u2011of\u2011the\u2011art vertical vulcanization line used in the manufacturing of high\u2011voltage submarine cables, a critical technology for modern power transmission. The building houses two vertical vulcanization lines and requires exceptional structural stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tower was constructed using slipform casting technology, allowing continuous work around the clock. Construction was heavily influenced by weather conditions, particularly wind speeds, which imposed strict limits on both crane operations and the casting process. The project site was extremely confined within an active factory area, and production at the adjacent facilities continued uninterrupted throughout construction. Successful delivery required close cooperation between the client, the constructor YIT, and multiple partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond the cable tower, the investment also included four new hall extensions and a new material storage facility, bringing the total new floor area to approximately 26,000 square metres. The project involved
demanding foundation works as well as extensive concrete, steel, and technical building services construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
