The new Guide covers both fair face facades and their use as a rendering substrate, as well as insulation render systems. Although all the above facade structures and their damage mechanisms are partly interrelated, they all also have their own special characteristics. The extremely long history of masonry structures in particular, and rendering on such structures, cause a specific challenge, what with all the different materials and structural solutions used.

This Guide is designed to comprehensively present the characteristic features of different structures as well as their damage mechanisms to provide the condition surveyor with sufficient knowledge to choose the correct condition survey methods. When conducting condition surveys on masonry and rendered facades, the surveyor must be familiar with the structures to be surveyed, their most typical damage types and stress factors as well as repair methods.

The Guide is intended not only for condition surveyors, but also to the clients who order condition surveys, providing them with the required basic information for the planning, implementation and ordering of a condition survey on such facade structures.
