Vuoden 2021 Paalutustyömaaksi valittu Vilhovuorenkadun jatke on siitä poikkeuksellinen katutyömaa, että osalla katuosuutta kaikki työt oli tehtävä maaperän sisältämien haitta-aineiden takia alipaineistetussa teltassa moottoroiduin kasvomaskein. Itse paalutustyön vaativuus taas oli seurausta maaperän kivisyydestä, minkä vuoksi paalujen lyöntiä edelsi kahdeksan metrin syvyisten reikien poraaminen lohkareiden läpi.

Hiilidioksidipäästöjen vähentäminen rakennetussa ympäristössä on ensisijaisen tärkeää. Toisaalta päästövähennysten osalta rakennusalalla on merkittävästi säästöpotentiaalia. Lähitulevaisuudessa rakennusalan päästöjen vähentämistä kirittävät erityisesti uudisrakennusten päästörajoitukset sekä myös päästökaupan aiheuttamat kustannukset. Ei voida myöskään vähätellä tulevia EU:n taksonomian vaikutuksia rakentamisen hiilidioksidipäästöihin.
